Rattlers Earn Offensive and Defensive Player Awards
GLENDALE, Arizona (July 9, 2026) – As if a 29-point thumping of first-place San Diego wasn't enough to applaud, the Rattlers also claimed both the offensive and defensive player of the week awards from the IFL.
Quarterback Max Meylor won the award for the second time this season. Both have come for performances against the Strike Force. Defensive back Yahsyn McKee Sr. earned the defensive player award after extending his league leading interception total to nine.
It is the first time this season that players from the same team won the offensive and defensive awards in the same week.
Meylor won the award in the Rattlers' season opener, a 49-27 victory over the Strike Force March 28 in Glendale. In the 65-36 victory on Saturday at San Diego, Meylor was 12 of 18 passing for 182 yards and five touchdowns. He's thrown for eight touchdowns and rushed for three in the two games against the Strike Force.
McKee Sr. recorded his ninth interception of the season on Saturday and returned it 35 yards for a touchdown. His nine interceptions, which have come in 11 games played, put him three ahead of the next IFL player in that category.
The Rattlers have now won Player of the Week awards seven times this season, four of those on defense, Meylor's two offensive awards, and one by placekicker Matthew Cook for special teams.
Arizona hosts the Tucson Sugar Skulls this Saturday in the team's regular-season home finale. Kickoff is 6 p.m. at Desert Diamond Arena. Tickets are available at the team website www.azrattlers.com. The game will be broadcast on Yahoo! Sports.
