ARENA FOOTBALL EXPERIENCE
Kurt Kahui is entering his second season in the AFL and with the Rattlers. Kahui started in 12 games for the Rattlers in 2008 and recorded 1.5 sacks, second with three interceptions, two tackles for loss, and ranked sixth on the squad with 20.5 tackles. His 55 interception return yards led the team and his 18.3 yard interception return average was second. He made his first career interception in the first game of the season against the Utah Blaze.

OTHER PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Kahui was waived by the NFL’s San Diego Chargers on August 1, 2007 after playing for the Chargers’ NFL Europe affiliate, the Amsterdam Admirals, from February 2007 until the league folded in June 2007. Before being allocated to Europe, Kahui was signed to the Chargers’ practice squad on December 13, 2006 as an undrafted rookie free agent.

COLLEGE
Kahui played his collegiate ball at San Diego State University from 2002-05. He played in 31 games for the Aztecs over his career, finishing with 105 tackles (60 solo, 43 assisted), 11.5 tackles for loss for minus-67 yards, five sacks, two pass breakups, a quarterback hurry, and one fumble recovery. As a senior, he tallied 72 tackles, five tackles for loss, and three sacks. He was named Mountain West Conference all-second team as a defensive lineman. As a Junior in 2004, Kahui started five games for the Aztecs, and played in 10 overall. He finished the season with 25 tackles, including 15 solo stops, one fumble recovery, 3.5 tackles for loss, and a sack. In 2003, he played in four games and was credited with five tackles, including a pair of stops against defending national champion Ohio State . He added a sack and two tackles for loss before his season ended prematurely when he suffered a broken arm at Utah (10/11003). He played in five games as a freshman in 2002, making three tackles and one tackle for loss.

HIGH SCHOOL/PERSONAL
Born Oct. 18, 1984, in Wailuku, Hawaii, Kahui majored in recreation at San Diego State University. A Mountain West Conference all-academic selection, Kahui has considered a career as a lawyer or as a firefighter. Had 33 sacks over his final two years of high school on the island of Maui at Baldwin High School. An all-league selection and a second-team all-state honoree at Baldwin. Also earned four varsity letters in soccer. Was the Baldwin High School athlete of the year his senior year.
