Biography:
PROFESSIONAL
Isaiah Trufant is entering is second season in the AFL, his first with the Rattlers. He played for the Kansas City Brigade in 2007, starting seven of the eight games in which he participated. He started the season on the practice squad, but was signed to the active roster prior to week five. Despite only playing in half the team’s games, he lead the Brigade with 17 pass break-ups. He was third on the team with 52.5 tackles, including 11 tackles against Colorado on April 27th. He led the team with three recovered fumbles, and his one interception was good for fourth on the team. In only his second AFL start, Trufant filled the stat sheet, recording an interception, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery, four pass breakups and 4.5 tackles. The all-around stellar effort earned him the ADT Defensive Player of the Week honors. Signed out of college by the af2 Spokane Shock (6/20/06) and helped the team with the Arena Cup in the 2006 season.
COLLEGE
Isaiah played his collegiate ball at Division I-AA Eastern Washington Univerisity in the Big Sky Conference. As a Senior in 2005, Isaiah only played in six games due to an ankle injury, but was named to the First Team All-Big Sky Conference Team. He recorded 25 tackles, one interception, two forced fumbles, two fumble recorveries, and a pass breakup. He was named to the pre-season All-American Third Team. In 2004, was named by the Football Gazette to the I-AA All-West Region Third Team. He claimed First Team All-Big Sky Conference and Big Sky Conference All-Academic Team honors. He was second on the team with three interceptions and led the team with a 26.4 kickoff return average. Had 37 tackles, .5 tackles for loss, and 12 passes broken up in 13 games. In 2003, Isaiah played in all 11 games for the Eagles, recording 41 tackles and 8 passes defended. He led the team with four interceptions and returned two for touchdowns. As a freshman in 2002, Isaiah played in six games, was sixth in the Big Sky Conference with three interceptions, and was named to the Big Sky Conference All-Academic Team.
HIGH SCHOOL/PERSONAL
Isaiah was born December 9, 1982 in Tacoma, Washington. He is the younger brother of Seahawk cornerback Marcus Trufant. He graduated Wilson High School in Washington in 2001.
