Biography:
PROFESSIONAL Atnaf Harris is entering his second active season in the AFL, both with the Arizona Rattlers. Last season, Harris played in eight games, starting three, with the Rattlers. He was third on the team with 41 receptions and 595 yards receiving. His 14.5 yards per catch average was highest on the team, and was good for 11th on the Rattlers all-time single season list. He added nine touchdown receptions as well. Atnaf came to the Rattlers after a spending 2006 with the San Jose Sabercats. He signed with the Sabercats on November 3, 2005 to the practice squad, but never saw playing time. He came to the Sabercats after spending a season on the Denver Broncos’ practice squad, but was released by the Broncos on August 21, 2004. He was signed by the Broncos in December 2003 after being waived by the NFL’s Houston Texans on September 1, 2003. He spent time on the practice squad before being elevated to the active roster in November 2002. Harris played in one game, starting at WR for the Texans in the 2002 regular season finale, making one catch for eight yards. He was originally signed as an undrafted free-agent out of college by the Texans on May 22, 2002.
COLLEGE Harris played three seasons (1998-00) at Fresno State University. He totaled 26 receptions for 285 yards and 4 TDs in 23 games. He had 198 yards and 3 touchdowns on 17 catches as a freshman. Harris was a teammate of Rodney Wright for three seasons. He transferred to Cal State Northridge for his senior season but Matadors dropped their football program that year.
HIGH SCHOOL/PERSONAL Born Atnaf DeShawn Harris on February 27, 1979 in Fresno, California. He attended Edison High School in Fresno where he caught 34 passes for 667 yards and 6 touchdowns as a senior. He earned first-team All-North Yosemite League honors and named to the Fresno Bee's All-Star team. Harris enjoys playing video games in his free time and his favorite is 'Madden NFL'. He hopes to pursue a career in coaching high school football. Harris graduated with a degree in Sociology from Fresno State University. He has a son named Jalen.
