Phoenix, Ariz. – This weekend’s matchup features a rematch from week 2. The Arizona Rattlers (5-2) are are seeking revenge for that game, while the Las Vegas Outlaws (3-3) are looking to stay in the division race. The game will be played at the US Airways Center Saturday night at 6:00 PDT. The game will be televised on Fox Sports Arizona and can also be streamed online at ESPN3.com. Here is what to watch for in Saturday’s game:
Arizona Rattlers fullback Mykel Benson has rushed for a touchdown in three straight games. Benson is already having a strong year with the Rattlers, tallying 7 touchdowns on the season. With Las Vegas rushing defense ranking last in the league, look for Benson to continue his streak.
Coleman Taking Strides
Rattlers quarterback BJ Coleman had his best game so far this season with last Saturdays win over the New Orleans VooDoo (2-5). His performance in that game earned him the Week 7 AFL MVP. Coleman should take another step this week as he gets more comfortable in this offense.
Raterink on the Ropes
The Las Vegas Outlaws have struggled so far this season in passing, as they rank last in the league in pass offense. Outlaws quarterback JJ Raterink has his work cut out for him as he faces a Rattlers’ pass defense that is fouth in the league overall.
The Rattlers now boast the number one kick return teams in the AFL. This is led off by defensive back AJ Cruz, who now averages an astounding 26.5 yards per attempt. He also leads the league with 3 kickoff return touchdowns. The Outlaws have a strong kick return game themselves. They are fourth in the league and average 19.1 yards per attempt. The two teams will try to capitalize on good field position this Saturday.
