First place.
That is what is on the line in Saturday’s game against the Nebraska Danger. Nebraska has it. The Rattlers want it back.
The Danger are the only undefeated team left remaining in the Indoor Football League. The Rattlers are sitting at 2-1. The game is at the Talking Stick Resort Arena, this Saturday with kickoff at 6:05 p.m. PDT. The game can also be seen on FOX Sports Arizona Rattlers channel, FOX Sports Go app, and YouTube. You can also listen live on 1580 the Fanatic 99.3 FM and 95.9 FM. Here is what to watch for on Saturday.
Quarterbacks
The Rattlers are finally getting healthy at the quarterback position with the reactivation of Verlon Reed. Quarterback Jeff Ziemba is also beginning to hit his stride after completing nine of his 16 passes this past Sunday.
Nebraska, however, just lost their starting quarterback Damien Fleming on Monday to an injury that will likely keep him out for the remainder of the season. Fleming made up most of the Danger offense, so it will be interesting to watch how Nebraska replaces the talented signal caller.
Trench Warfare
The Rattlers are currently tops in the league in rushing with the dynamic duo of RB Darrell Monroe and RB Shadrach Thornton. Together, they combine for an astonishing 114 yards per game. Thornton leads the team with 117 yards on the year, while Monroe has 109 yards, both ranking 2nd and 3rd in the league respectively.
As good as their rush offense is, the Rattlers have yet to face a rush defense like the Danger. Nebraska leads the league only allowing a meager 67.3 yards per game and holds the rushers to 3.5 yards per rush.
