Scottsdale, Ariz. – The Arizona Rattlers have selected Vince Marotta to be the team’s PA announcer for the 2012 Arizona Rattlers Arena Football League (AFL) season.
Public auditions were held on Saturday, February 25 at US Airways Center where candidates came out, all sporting strong ad-lib skills and knowledge of the game.
Marotta, a fan of the Arizona Rattlers since their establishment in 1992, will kick off his first official appearance when the Rattlers host the Milwaukee Mustangs on March 17 at US Airways Center. Kick off is at 7 p.m.
Marotta attended Arizona State University and the Academy of Radio Broadcasting and is currently the Web Content Editor/Columnist at ArizonaSports.com/Bonneville International.
Marotta has been an on-air personality for the past 16 years at various stations in the Valley ranging from XTRA 910, Edge 103.9, and The Fan 1060. In 2008, Marotta took a break from the on-air scene and help launch Fanster.com, a locally focused sports website. In the past, Marotta has exercised his play-by-play announcer skills for the ASU’s women’s basketball team, and for the past two years he has served as the spring training play-by-play announcer for the Oakland A’s.
