Hello Rattler Nation!
Once again, I would like to thank all of you for such great support!! Last Friday’s game, a Quarterfinal win over the Spokane Shock (62-33), was one of the loudest crowds I have played in front of and it definitely helped energize our defense!!
Last week, in our game against the Shock, we tried to make a statement to the rest of the Arena Football League and I’m pretty sure we were successful in doing that. Our intense preparation and hard work paid off and we were able to win convincingly! However, that was last week and now it’s on to the next one! That being said, things will not get any easier this week as we face the only other team to beat us in the regular season in the National Conference Championship, the Chicago Rush (14-5)
Chicago is a formidable opponent and has proved that if you let them hang around, they can make you pay. On the other hand, we are a much different and much improved team from the last time we faced them. This week will be no different from last, as far as our preparation, and in fact it may be more intense! Our coaches are getting us prepared, and once again it will be on us players to get the job done
Considering that it is the playoffs and everything is intensified from practice and meetings to mental preparation, it is always good to allow yourself some time to take your mind off of the game and recharge your battery! On Wednesday (August 3) night, DEFENSIVE COORDINATOR OMARR SMITH had the entire defensive backfield over for a barbeque so we could spend some together off the field and outside of the meeting room. As a group, we cherish times like this because it allows us to play cards, video games or even just a swim in the pool to relax without thinking about football! Events like this really help build our relationships and trust for one another which ultimately carries over to the field – I think it shows in our play. Although Wednesday night was a refreshing change-up, Thursday morning brought us right back to the grind of getting ready for the Rush!
Just like last week, we will need all of the support from the entire Rattler Nation for our game against Chicago! As I said last week, we need you NOW more than ever, and believe me, as a defensive player, having all of you be as loud as you were last week, and behind us all the way, is a huge advantage! I think I speak for our entire team when I say we feed off of the emotion of the fans and when you guys bring it, we can feel that energy and it translates into BIG PLAYS!
Again, I look forward to seeing all of you out there on Saturday night and can’t wait to feel the energy you brought last week! Thanks again and GO RATTLERS!!!
