MESA, Ariz. – The Arizona Rattlers are pleased to announce the re-signing of the 2010 AFL Rookie of the Year WR ROD WINDSOR.
Last season, Windsor recorded 193 catches for 2,372 yards and 47 TDs, breaking AFL records in receptions and receiving yards.
“We are certainly happy to have him back,” said GM/HEAD COACH KEVIN GUY. “But most importantly, I know it is important for him to be close to his daughter here in Arizona.”
After spending the latter part of the 2010 season with the Cleveland Browns and Buffalo Bills, Windsor re-signed with the Browns in January 2011. The current state of the National Football League labor agreement has allowed Windsor to return to the Rattlers.
“I am here to help the team succeed and help the team get to a championship – that’s really my goal,” said Windsor.
In addition to playing in the AFL and NFL in 2010, Windsor played for the UFL’s Sacramento Mountain Lions where he caught 25 passes for 379 yards and three TDs.
In 2009, Windsor spent the season playing under the direction of Guy with the Rio Grande Valley Dorados (af2), where he was named the league’s Offensive Player of the Year and Rookie of the Year after catching 184 passes for 2,364 yards and 59 TDs in 15 games.
“He brings a lot of talent to our receiving corps, which adds to the talent we already have,” said Guy. “Since he hasn’t been practicing with us, we still have to get some timing down with him and he needs some reps with the offense, but he is a vet, so he should be able to pick things up pretty fast.”
Windsor played college football for Western New Mexico University, where he played quarterback until his senior year, when he switched to wide receiver.
