MESA, Ariz. – The Arizona Rattlers have announced the re-signing of DL ANTTAJ HAWTHORNE and WR GLEN FOX.
In 2011, Hawthorne earned First Team All-Arena as a defensive lineman. He collected 19 tackles, eight of which were for loss, seven sacks, two pass breakups and six fumble recoveries. Hawthorne’s sack total ranks him as fourth all-time in a single-season for the Rattlers and his six fumble recoveries are the top Rattler ranking in a single-season. In the playoffs, Hawthorne collected 3.5 tackles, one of which for loss, one fumble recovery and one pass breakup.
Hawthorne was drafted by the Oakland Raiders in the 6th round (175th overall) of the 2005 NFL Draft. He played in two games his rookie season, recording two assists. Hawthorne registered 13 solo tackles and three assists in eight games during the 2006 NFL season before being allocated to the Frankfurt Galaxy of NFL Europe. In his first year in Frankfurt, he registered 28 regular season tackles and two sacks on a top ranked rushing defense that allowed only 52 yards per game. He won his first World Bowl title that same year.
After completing his first season with the Rattlers in 2011, Fox played in nine games, catching nine balls for 147 yards and two touchdowns. The wide receiver saw action in a Quarterfinal playoff win over the Spokane Shock (62-33) where he caught two passes for 16 yards and one touchdown.
Fox tried out with the Green Bay Packers during the teams’ 2010 Rookie Orientation Camp.
