ARIZONA RATTLERS ALSO SIGN 2019 STRIKE FORCE TEAM CAPTAIN DL FULLUM
PHOENIX – The six-time world champion Arizona Rattlers announced today that they have re-signed the 2018 IFL-MVP quarterback Drew Powell, and the 2019 first-team all-IFL offensive lineman Lamar Mady. The Rattlers have also signed defensive lineman Terrence Fullum formally with the San Diego Strike Force.
QB Drew Powell (6-foot-1, 200, Ohio State) is entering his second season with the Arizona Rattlers. He joined the team at the midway-point last season and helped the Rattlers make it to the 2019 United Bowl. He completed 62 of 84 passes (73.8 percent) and threw for 18 touchdowns and only two interceptions.
Powell spent the 2018 season with the Iowa Barnstormers where he completed 154-of-226 passes for 1,604 yards and 34 touchdowns and just four interceptions. Powell also led the IFL in rushing with 945 yards and 23 touchdowns. Powell’s 945 single season rushing yards were second most IFL history. He led the Barnstormers to their first ever IFL championship. Powell earned the IFL MVP in 2018, and first-team All-IFL honors.
The 6-foot-3, 220-pounder played for Livingstone College where during his senior season in 2015 completed 184-of-315 passes for 2,166 yards, 15 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions and also rushed for 614 yards and eight touchdowns. By the end of his collegiate career, Powell broke 11 school records, including All-Time leading passer in yards, and four CIAA records. He was also the 2012 CIAA Offensive Rookie of the Year.
OL Lamar Mady (6-foot-2, 315, Youngstown State) has been with the team since 2016 and was an integral part of the Rattlers success this season, both in rushing and pass protection. He has earned first-team All-IFL Honors in three straight seasons (2017-2019). In 2019, the team led the league on the ground, averaging 118.4 yards per game. The Rattlers offensive line also allowed the fewest sacks in the league with four.
Mady spent time with the National Football League’s (NFL) Oakland Raiders, where he played in seven games during the 2013 season, and spent 2013-2015 seasons on the Raiders practice squad.
The 6-foot-2, 315-pounder attended Youngstown State where he played in 22 games during which, he did not allow a sack or pressure. Mady transferred from Butler County Community College where he was named first-team All-Jayhawk Conference and first-team All-Region VI.
The Topeka, Kansas native attended Topeka High School where played both center and defensive tackle. Mady earned first-team All-Centennial League selection during his senior season, and as a junior was a second-team All-Centennial League pick as a center.
DL Terrence Fullum (6-foot-2, 265, Richmond) spent last season with the San Diego Strike Force. While there, he led the team in tackles-for-loss, sacks, quarterback hits and quarterback hurries. He was also named the team captain.
Fullum attended Richmond University where he amassed 24 tackles and was named to the 2012 and 2013 CAA All-Academic Teams.
The Bethesda, Maryland native attended the Landon School (high school) where he racked up 110 tackles, 10.5 sacks and 32 tackles for loss over his final two seasons, and was a First Team All-Conference pick and Second Team All-Sentinel selection as a senior.
