MESA, Ariz. – The Arizona Rattlers (10-2) enter a match up with the Iowa Barnstormers (3-8) after producing their highest scoring total of the season in a Week 13 win (72-37) over the Utah Blaze, despite only amassing 180 total offensive yards.
Arizona comes back to the US Airways Center ranked in the top-five of almost all of the major offensive and defensive statistical categories. Most notably, the Rattlers are averaging the second best scoring offense of 61.2 points per game, fourth best pass offense of 285.9 yards per game and scoring defense of 46.2 points per game.
The Rattlers saw major production in Week 13 from the defense, which collected five turnovers, and a special teams unit that produced three touchdowns and a 57-yard field goal from Kicker FABRIZIO SCACCIA. In the defensive backfield, DB VIRGIL GRAY has seven of the squad’s 26 interceptions on the year and has become a special teams threat as he is ranked first in kickoff return yardage with an average of 22.1 yards per return and two touchdowns.
Offensively, WR ROD WINDSOR comes into the game with the Barnstormers with 1,372 yards receiving and 24 touchdowns. The wide receiving corps will look to capitalize on a Barnstormers secondary that has collected 17 interceptions on the year.
Despite only playing one half of football last week, QB NICK DAVILA is averaging 273.3 passing yards per game and has tossed a league third best 73 touchdowns this season.
GM/HEAD COACH KEVIN GUY and company will focus on trying to contain the shifty feet of Iowa quarterback Brad Banks. The signal caller has six rushing touchdowns this season and has used his scrambling ability to open up plays in the passing game where he is averaging 265.1 passing yards a game.
A favorite target of Banks this season is WR Jesse Schmidt. The wide receiver has notched 32 touchdowns coming into this match up and averages just over 110 receiving yards per game.
