Phoenix, Ariz. – The Indoor Football League (IFL) has announced that the Arizona Rattlers have been honored with the Best Franchise of the Year award, the Best Fans of the Year award, and the Best Cheerleaders/Dance Team of the Year award.
Franchise of the Year Award
The historic Rattlers organization brought 25 years of indoor/arena football experience and a winning pedigree to the IFL this season. Since the team’s establishment in 1992, the Rattlers have won 11 division titles, 6 conference titles, and have appeared in 10 championship games, winning five.
Now the organization, in their first year in the new league, is being honored as the best franchise of the year after earning their way to the 2017 United Bowl.
“We are incredibly honored to be recognized as Franchise of the Year in our first season with the IFL,” said Ron Shurts, Owner of the Arizona Rattlers. “It’s a testament to our front office, our coaching staff, players, dance team, and most of all our great fans in the Rattler Nation.”
Best Fans of the Year Award
The Snake Pit showed they were still ready to bring the noise this season, during the Rattlers eight home games. Arizona did not have one home game this season where the crowd was under 10,000 fans. The Rattlers even had a game this season on May 20th against the Salt Lake Screaming Eagles, where they had 15,478 fans in attendance.
The Arizona Rattlers organization would like to thank their loyal fans of the Snake Pit in showing their support all season long and staying committed even after our switch to the IFL.
“We appreciate our fans sticking with us through the transition this past offseason. The atmosphere here in the Snake Pit is like no other. Rattler Nation is the strongest fan base period,” Said General Manager and Head Coach Kevin Guy. “If you look back at our home record the last few years, it shows that our fans really make a difference.”
Best Cheerleaders/Dance Team of the Year Award
The Sidewinders like every season have been entertaining the fans with halftime and quarterly performances, along with in game dances to get the people in the crowd pumped up. They are group of women that enjoy what they do, and make the Snake Pit even a better place to be.
“It’s a huge honor to be awarded Best IFL Dance Team,” said Sidewinders Director Angie Baker. “The Sidewinders work hard year-round to promote the Arizona Rattlers, the IFL and to show professional cheerleaders in a positive light. From charity events to game performances, these ladies give 100 percent. They are poised, professional, kind and I’m so proud of them. Thank you to the IFL for the recognition, and thank you to the Rattlers organization for providing opportunities for the dancers and having faith in me as a coach.”
