. The challenge was for teams to design and bake their own custom medallions, a puff pastry filled with sweet or savory items. The teams were chosen in advance and created a special apron and theme for the occasion.
After being given instructions by Special Moments’ Brad Taylor, the teams had 30 minutes to plan and prepare their medallions for the ovens. Each team was given two “must use ingredients”, rice and basil, and then allowed to add ingredients as they desired. The kitchen’s chefs were on hand to offer guidance but the ladies were set loose in the pantry to choose their own unique ingredients.
After baking, the teams presented each judge a medallion for tasting. The captain of each team named and described their medallion for the judges.

1st Place – “Pink Ladies” (Team 4) Carne Asada Green Chille Medallions
2nd Place –“Snap Backs & Tattoos” (Team 1) Spanish Rice Medallion with Chipotle Sauce
3rd Place – “Cinnamon Spice Girls” (Team 3) The Italian Medallion
4th Place – “Paprika Princesses” (Team 2) Habenero-Pinapple Asian Inspired Medallion
