MESA, Ariz. – The Arizona Rattlers are saddened by the passing of Eric Houle, 29, who kicked for the franchise in 2008. Houle died as a result of an automobile accident Saturday (March 28) evening.
“It is a very sad day when you receive this type of phone call,” said GM/HEAD COACH KEVIN GUY. “I had the pleasure of coaching Eric, both in Arizona and in Texas (with the Rio Grande Valley Dorados).”
“He was a special human being and a team first guy. Eric and I were actually neighbors in Texas and my family got to know Eric and Nichole well. My heart goes out to Nichole and their two children, Ava and Lucca.”
Prior to his time in the AFL and af2, Houle netted 327 points in his collegiate career, which is the most in Saginaw Valley State history.
A memorial fund has been set up for those wishing to help support Houle’s children’s education. Donations may be made at the Eric Houle Memorial Fund webpage.
Houle is survived by his wife, Nichole, and children, Ava (3) and Lucca (10 months).
Visitation services will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 30 at Allen Funeral Home in Davison, Michigan. Houle’s funeral will be held Thursday, Mar. 31 at 11:00 a.m.
