Phoenix, Ariz. – The Arizona Rattlers in partnership with the Arizona National Guard will host a canned food drive at US Airways Center inside the Casino Arizona Pavilion on Tuesday, March 13 and Wednesday, March 14 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. to celebrate the team’s home opener on Saturday, March 17. The Rattlers will host the Milwaukee Mustangs, kick-off is at 7:00 p.m.
Fans are encouraged to donate non-perishable food items benefiting St. Vincent de Paul as the Arizona Rattlers and the Arizona National Guard continue to support the community with the start of the 2012 Arena Football League (AFL) season. With the success of the team’s food drive last July (over 6,000 lbs. of food items were donated to St. Vincent de Paul), the Rattlers and Arizona National Guard hope to provide fans with an opportunity to see a game while exceeding the volume of their previous year’s donation.
“The food drive we held last year before the ArenaBowl was a huge success and provided much needed food to St. Vincent de Paul that we wanted to do it again,” said Ron Shurts, Arizona Rattlers majority owner. “Our great partner, the Arizona National Guard has stepped up and made tickets available to fans. It is fantastic to see the community rally to support such an important charity organization in Phoenix.”
For each food item donated, fans will receive one complementary upper level ticket to the home opener March 17 at US Airways Center, courtesy of the Arizona National Guard. Fans can receive up to four tickets per household. Tickets are limited and based on availability. Complimentary tickets can be used for $10 towards any upgraded seat at the US Airways Center box office.
The event will kick off Tuesday, March 13 at 9:00 a.m. and last thru Wednesday, March 14 or for the duration of the ticket supply. Tickets are expected to go quickly based on last year’s food drive success so individuals interested in participating are encouraged to make their donations as early as possible.
St. Vincent de Paul Charity of Phoenix is an international non-profit organization who has been serving Arizona families since 1946. They are dedicated to serving the poor and providing others with the opportunity to serve the community. Programs include services for the homeless, medical and dental care for the working poor, charity dining rooms, thrift stores, a transitional housing shelter and general assistance for individuals in need.
The Arizona Rattlers continue to work with various non-profit organizations throughout the Valley donating their time to help community members in need as part of their community outreach campaign.
