Scottsdale, Ariz. – Quarterback, Willy Korn, wide receivers, Phillip Payne and Reynaldi Audate, along with offensive linemen, Anthony Parker and Derek Dennis have been assigned to the Arizona Rattlers for the 2013 Arena Football League (AFL) season. This will mark the first season in the AFL and with the Rattlers for all five players.
At 23 years old, Korn stands 6’2″ tall and weighs in at 210 pounds. The quarterback was a two year starter at North Greenville his junior and senior year. In 2010, he threw for over 1,500 yards and 18 touchdowns and also ran for four scores.
Originally from Lyman, South Carolina, Korn was the #5 dual threat quarterback out of high school and originally committed to Clemson University where he made one career start. He graduated from Clemson in 2010 with two years of eligibility left. After a brief stint at Marshall, Korn transferred to North Greenville in 2010 where he was the starting quarterback for NGU’s spread option offensive attack.
Payne, a 22 year old from Las Vegas, Nevada, stands 6’3″ tall and weighs in at 205 pounds. Payne signed with the San Diego Chargers as an undrafted free agent in 2012 competing in training camp before being released in the last set of cuts.
Payne played football at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and set a UNLV record with 26 touchdown catches. Payne finished his career with 171 receptions, 5th all-time in school history, and 2,295 yards through the air, standing 8th all-time at UNLV.
One of the top freshman receivers in the nation in 2008 Payne was a PrepStar West Coast All-Region honoree that was ranked the No. 70 WR prospect in the nation by ESPN Insider out of high school.
Audate is a 6’2″, 210 pound 26 year old from Everett, Massachusetts. Out of Merrimack College, Audate played three games with the Tulsa Talons in 2011.
Parker, a 23 year old from Miami, Florida, spent five seasons at Western Michigan University. Standing 6’5″ and 320 pounds, Parker played in 49 games for the Broncos, the most by an offensive lineman in program history. During his career he saw action in over 3600 snaps and was a Second Team All-Mid-Atlantic Conference selection, his sophomore season, in 2009. Parker previously signed with the New York Jets in 2012 as an undrafted free agent.
Dennis, a 24 year old from Peekskill, New York stands 6’3″ tall and weighs in at 315 pounds. After signing as an undrafted free agent with the Miami Dolphins in 2012 and being released prior to training camp, Dennis was picked up by the New England Patriots challenging for a roster spot and making it to the final round of cuts. The offensive guard played at Temple University where in 2011 he was one of nine to start in all 13 games. In 2012, Dennis was honored with an invite to play in the 2012 East-West Shrine Game.
