TULSA, OKLA. – The Arizona Rattlers (5-0) remain in the top spot of the Week 7 Coaches’ Poll, receiving 17 first place votes following their home overtime victory, 67-61, over the Utah Blaze (3-3). Rattlers quarterback Nick Davila connected with Rod Windsor for a 38-yard touchdown reception in overtime that sealed Arizona’s sixth win of the season. Arizona now hosts the Spokane Shock (2-4) in another West Division showdown on Saturday, April 30 at 10:00 p.m. EST. The Shock are coming off an important road victory over the Orlando Predators (4-2) last Saturday.
The Jacksonville Sharks (5-1) earned one first place vote and jumped to second place following an impressive 56-42 home win over the Cleveland Gladiators (3-2). Jacksonville earned its fifth consecutive victory, with the only loss coming from the top-ranked Arizona team in Week 1. Sharks veteran quarterback Aaron Garcia needs only three touchdown passes to reach the 1,000 career mark. Garcia and the Sharks look to continue their winning ways as they host the Orlando Predators at home on Saturday, April 30 at 8:00 p.m. EST on NFL Network’s “Arena Football Friday.” Orlando is the only South Division opponent that Jacksonville has yet to play in the 2011 season.
San Jose (5-2) made the biggest jump, moving from six to third, following a 68-61 victory over the Philadelphia Soul (1-5) on Friday. The SaberCats have won three consecutive games, after losing their previous two. The SaberCats have a bye in Week 8 before an important West Division matchup against top-ranked Arizona on May 7 at 10:30 p.m. EST.
The Orlando Predators dropped two spots, following a 70-58 home loss to the Spokane Shock. Quarterback Nick Hill and the Predators look to bounce back against Jacksonville in a vital division matchup. The Chicago Rush (4-2) also dropped in the Poll, after a 58-51 home loss to the Kansas City Command (2-4) last week. The Rush will host the New Orleans VooDoo (1-5) on Saturday April 30 at 8:00 p.m. EST.
The Gladiators dropped one spot after suffering their second loss of the season to the Jacksonville Sharks on Saturday, April 23. Cleveland will look to get back to their winning ways against the Tulsa Talons (2-4) on Friday, April 29 at 7:30 p.m. EST. Georgia (4-2) jumped up one spot in the Poll, following a 57-48 road victory over the Milwaukee Mustangs (1-5). The Force will host the Pittsburgh Power (3-3) on April 30 at 7:30 p.m. EST.
The Dallas Vigilantes (4-2) also moved up one spot following a win, 67-61, over the Tampa Bay Storm (2-4). Dallas will face JJ Raterink and the Kansas City Command on Friday, April 29 at 8:30 p.m. EST. The Shock re-entered the Coaches Poll, following an impressive victory over the Orlando Predators on Saturday. The defending ArenaBowl Champions will now host the number one-ranked Arizona Rattlers on Saturday.
