Hello fans! First, I would like to thank you all for your support on Saturday night when we took on the Cleveland Gladiators. We came ready to play and you came ready to get loud.
With the new ownership, it is a great time for Rattler Nation. Our new Team Owner, Ron Shurts, and our new Team President, Joe Windham, have brought in a lot of excitement to the organization. We are on the right track with them and I am excited to work alongside that duo moving forward.
I hope all of the fans enjoyed the pregame activities. I know that you guys were excited to see the fireworks and hear the boom – so were we! All of these game elements create a huge home field advantage for the Rattlers. We need to get the Snake Pit rocking and continue to make it one of the loudest game experiences in the league. It was nice to hear the rock music getting pumped back into the arena again!
To talk a little bit about our last road trip, we had a great time in New Orleans. It’s always a nice road trip when you can come back with the win. A lot of the players have family and friends in the area, including myself. It was good to see some family and friends. We had a lot of fun on Bourbon Street after the win, and even saw Big John and Peanut down there – they are some fans who make the road trips.
The day after the game, Ron, Joe and I hopped on a private jet to head up to The Preakness in Baltimore, which allowed us to talk business. We talked about the vision that we all have for the Rattlers moving forward – a lot of it pertained to fan experience.
During The Preakness events, we went to a Phil Vassar concert – Phil is a good friend of Ron’s. We had backstage passes and we were allowed on stage for the entire concert. I had a lot of fun partying with Phil. He is a cool cat, real down to earth guy. I got sunburned, but not to worry, we were completely hydrated the entire time we were there! Phil plans on coming to some Rattler games in the future and he has some cool ideas to put on the table for the team. You’ll have to wait and see what’s coming.
In terms of the horse racing, I was very disappointed that “Dialed In” did not win. How could a horse not win with a name like that? Such a good football name.
Sunday morning, before we flew out, we got a chance to hang out down by the harbor. The city has done a lot with the downtown area. It’s too bad they don’t have an arena, it would be a great city to have an Arena Football League franchise. At the end of the trip, I flew back with Joe. We were able to talk a lot about working together as a team to continue to increase productivity with the Rattlers.
That’s it for now. Can’t wait until next time.
