Player Profile: Anttaj Hawthorne

Anttaj Hawthorne, who has been with the Rattlers since 2008, began his professional career in the National Football League as a member of the active roster for the Oakland Raiders from 2005-2006. He is the Rattlers’ all-time leader in sacks and is a two-time All-Arena award winner in only six AFL seasons.

During the 2014 season, on June 24th, the greatest moment of his life occurred when his daughter, Zoey Hawthorne was born. According to Anttaj, nobody truly understands how much he enjoys spending time with his daughter, who proves to be a constant motivation for him in his AFL career. Hawthorne’s main goal in life is to be a great father.

According to Anttaj, the most enjoyable part of the AFL experience to him is the feeling he gets every time he lifts up the ArenaBowl championship trophy at the end of the season.

Question: When you first met Coach Guy, what did you think?

Hawthorne: I thought that I could definitely win with this coach!!!

Q: What do you think you need to do to improve as a person?

Hawthorne: I think that I need to use a filter when I tell others how I really feel to improve as a person.

Q: What is your best non-athletic talent?

Hawthorne: I would definitely consider myself a video game genius!

Q: Who’s the one person in history you would have liked to meet?

Hawthorne: John F. Kennedy would be the first person in history that I would like to meet.

Q: What was your favorite sports team growing up?

Hawthorne: Oddly enough, I never had a favorite sports team growing up.
