Player Profile: Fabrizio Scaccia

Born out of Oceanside, New York, Fabrizio Scaccia is in the process of finishing up a fresh new year with the Arizona Rattlers. The road most football players take is playing in high school, college, and finally professional, but Scaccia had a unique story compared to others. His journey started at St. Lucie West Centennial High School in Port St. Lucie, Florida where he was a dual sport letterman in football and in soccer for four years (2000-2003). Scaccia to this day holds the longest field goal (51-yards) at Lucie West Centennial high school and during his senior year he earned First-Team All-State Honors. His kicking ability was quickly recognized by all, in fact, he was offered a football scholarship from University of South Carolina, but turned it down due to personal reasons. That, however, didn’t stop his football journey. He went on to play for the Arizona Rattlers in 2010, as well as the Sacramento Lions, Iowa Barnstormers, and the Jacksonville Sharks. But did Scaccia stop there? No. On December 21, 2010, Scaccia’s dream of playing in the National Football League (NFL) came true. He was invited to try out for the San Francisco 49ers and was signed immediately. “Running out of the Mercedes Superdome tunnel in New Orleans for my first NFL game vs. the Saints was the most memorable moment for me. Having not played college football and still making it all the way to the NFL was really special,” said Scaccia. Today, Scaccia has the chance to help his Rattlers win their fourth consecutive championship title and be part of AFL history.
