RATTLERS DOMINATE TALONS

Arizona rolls past San Antonio, 70-21

San Antonio, TX – The Arizona Rattlers (11-1) held the San Antonio (5-6) Talons to their lowest point total of the season, allowing just three touchdowns, as they picked up the 70-21 victory on Saturday night at the Alamodome in front of 8,047.

The San Antonio offense was no match against a Rattlers defense that posted six interceptions and a fumble recovery. Arkeith Brown snagged three picks on the night while Jeremy Kellem accounted for two, including one returned for a TD, and Marquis Floyd capped off the game with the final takeaway at the one minute mark.

Rattlers QB Nick Davila was 18-of-27 for 290 yards and five touchdowns. Jason Murrietta replaced Davila in the third quarter and went 5-of-5 for 43 yards and three TDs.

Jared Perry and Kerry Reed had seven catches each. Perry found the end zone three times and Reed, twice. Rod Windsor also got in on the scoring barrage with four receptions for three TDs.

The Rattlers made it a 35-0 game before San Antonio finally got in the board with 27 seconds to play in the first half, making it a 35-7 game at the break. The Talons would only tally one additional touchdown in both the third and fourth quarters. WR Brent Holmes, FB Chad Cook and QB Nick Fanuzzi accounted for the three scores.

With their eighth straight win the Rattlers improve to 11-1 on the season, tying the best start in team history set in 1996.

The Rattlers return home next week, June 15, in a rematch against the Spokane Shock, hoping to avenge the only blemish on the season. Kickoff is set for 6pm AZ time at the US Airways Center on what will be First Responders Night.
