PREDATORS STALKING THE RATTLERS’ TOP RANKING
AFL’s Elite Wage War in Week Four

MESA, Ariz. – The AFL released its weekly coaches’ poll Wednesday afternoon, and topping the list for the first time this season were the Arizona Rattlers with nine first place votes. Other teams receiving first place votes were the second place Chicago Rush with five, and the Rattlers’ foe this weekend, the third place Orlando Predators who received four votes. There is no doubt that the Rattlers game this Saturday, April 2 at the US Airways Center is the AFL’s marquee week four matchup.
The 3-0 Rattlers earned the league’s top spot in the coaches’ poll after dismantling the Tulsa Talons on the road this past Monday night. Arizona displayed its prolific offense and the AFL’s top defense in route to shutting out the Talons in the first half, and eventually notching the most lopsided victory in franchise history, 69 – 20. The 49 point margin was the third largest by a visiting team in the AFL’s history.
The Orlando Predators are heading west to Phoenix with a 2-0 record. After sitting out week one with a bye, Orlando has marched out the league’s top offensive attack the last two weeks; ranking first in total offense, fifth in passing offense and fourth in rushing offense.
Both teams are undefeated, and the winner will likely shoulder the league’s top ranking going into its next game. Historically the teams are 8-8 against each other, with each team winning four at home and four on the road. Arizona won the last contest between the teams nearly three years ago, 60 – 53.
In a 20 week season where most week four matchups will fail to leave an indelible mental print by the kickoff of week five, after this game the sweet taste of victory or the sour scorn of defeat will be sure to linger.
