Biography: PROFESSIONAL
Patrick Afif is entering his second season in the AFL, his first with the Rattlers. Last season, he played for the San Jose Sabercats. He played in seven games, starting the first six of the season for the Sabercats. He started on the offensive line with and tallied an assisted tackle in his 1st AFL game and forced a fumble in a game at Chicago on March 9. Prior to joining the Sabercats, Afif played in 4 games with the Rio Grande Valley Dorados of af2 in 2006. He was originally invited to participate in the Washington Redskins minicamp in 2005.
COLLEGE
Afif played two seasons (2003-04) along the offensive line at Washington State University. He played in 17 games during his career at WSU. Afif played in seven games, starting five, at both guard and tackle during his senior year. In games that Afif played, the Cougars allowed 2.7 sacks a game, more than half a sack less than what they allowed when he didn’t play. As a Junior in 2003, Afif played in 10 games and the team only allowed two sacks a game. When he didn’t play, the team let up four sacks a game. He transferred from Orange Coast College where he was the top ranked tackle by Rivals.com. He earned All-American and All-Mission Conference honors while being ranked the No. 2 offensive lineman by The Insiders. His OCC team captured a Mission Conference title his freshman year.
PERSONAL
Patrick Simon Afif was born on March 20, 1983 in Los Angeles. He lettered in track, wrestling and football at Temecula (Calif.) Valley High School. Afif was voted the football team's most improved player his senior year. His brother, Jean-Paul, played basketball at Loyola Marymount University and with the NBA's Sacramento Kings. He volunteered as an assistant offensive line coach at Orange Coast College. Patrick Is a graphic designer and owns his own business Active Designs. He was part of a contingent of players conducting AFL camps in Merida, , during the 2007 offseason. He has appeared in over 20 television commercials.
