Biography:
PROFESSIONAL
Dustin Barno enters his fourth AFL season and his first with the Rattlers. He originally came in to the AFL on a two-day workout before signing on 1/16/04. In 2007, he appeared in all 16 games with the Colorado Crush, making 14 tackles, 5.0 sacks, one pass break-up, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery. 2006 was a breakout season for Barno setting a new Crush team record with six sacks on the year, while playing in all 16 games with 15 starts. Finished the regular season posting career numbers with 25 tackles and a team-high six sacks, which tied him for fourth best in the AFL. He also added two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery for a touchdown. In his rookie season in 2005, he finished the year with a career-high 14 tackles, one sack, one pass break-up and one forced fumble. He also hauled in his first career passes ending the year with two receptions and one touchdown.
COLLEGE
Barno played defensive tackle for East Stroudsburg State University in East Stroudsburg, Pa. (1999-2002). Finished his college career with 143 tackles, 17.5 sacks and 36 tackles-for-a-loss in four seasons. He was named the NSCA 2003 Strength-and-Conditioning Athlete of the Year. Earned All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference First-Team Defense in both 2001 and 2002. Played in the 2003 Cactus Bowl, setting a bowl record with two sacks. Won the Miles Montague Award for outstanding defensive player during spring practice three straight years (2000-02). Earned PSAC East Defensive Player of the Week honors after posting six solo tackles, three tackles for loss, two sacks and two forced fumbles vs. Mansfield. Finished his junior season tied for fourth in conference with seven sacks. As a sophomore, totaled 46 tackles, five sacks and 12 tackles for loss. Appeared in nine games as a freshman in 1999.
HIGH SCHOOL/PERSONAL
Born on April 15, 1980 as Dustin Nathaniel Barno. Started at defensive end for Easton Area High School (Easton, Pa.) where he played in the McDonald's All-Star Football Classic. Favorite teams as a child were the Chicago Bears and the New York Giants. Cites parents and coaches as greatest influence in his life. Received a bachelor's degree in health and physical education from East Stroudsburg. During the 2006 offseason, made his movie debut appearing in Disney's "Invincible". Has a cat named Simba. Resides in Easton, PA.
