ARENA FOOTBAL EXPERIENCE
Johnie Kirton is entering his second season in Arena Football, and his first in the AFL and with the Rattlers. Won a championship as a member of the 2009 Spokane Shock. Joined the team late in the season and, despite the bulk of his experience coming on the offensive side, was thrown into the mix as a defensive lineman. Notched nine tackles with 1.5 sacks and two tackles for a loss in his first four games. Named JLS Ironman of the game for his performance in the conference championship game. Scored his first career touchdown on a fumble return, and was part of the defensive line that produced a safety, two sacks and two interceptions.
COLLEGE EXPERIENCE
Played TE, DL and RB at the University of Washington and won multiple awards. Was the team captain and most inspirational, along with winning the Big Hit and Freshman of the Year awards. Playing DL his senior season, Kirton logged 27 tackles, two tackles for a loss and one forced fumble. Had 28 receptions for 266 yards and four touchdowns before making the switch to defense.
HIGH SCHOOL/PERSONAL
All-state running back at Jackson High School (Wash.) who came within one yard of setting the state record with 2,675 rushing yards his senior season. Graduated college with a B.A. in history while also studying abroad in South Africa for four months. Oldest of five; has four sisters Dionna, Joclyn, Dominique and Jayden. Also has a daughter, Jayde J. Kirton, born September 18, 2009.
